Science Matters

Activity 2 

Exploring facts about the socio, economic and geographical conditions of India, U.S and Japan, students of class 9 gained an insight into causes that effect the breeding of mosquitoes that spread Malaria. The ISA Activity helped learners analyse reasons that make malaria a menace in India. They also explored and learned about medical facilities available for treatment as well as preventive methods used globally for the prevention of the same. They complied their research in form of projects and shared them with the entire class.

With the aim of enhancing children’s knowledge about some of the neoteric global conservative concerns like Deforestation, Animal Extinction and Poaching, G.D.Goenka Public School , Sector-22,  Rohini gave children an opportunity to spread awareness about nature through Wall Hangings and Self-Made Documentaries.

Science Matters

Activity 1

In an endeavour to make the students aware about the effect of corrosion on various Indian and International monuments, the ISA Activity for class 10 was concluded in the month of January. In groups, students researched about the chemical composition of the construction material used  and analysed the impact of corrosion on the monuments. They then presented their research findings in form of PPTs and analysed the preventive measures taken to reduce the effect of corrosion . The spirit of team work and inquisitiveness was enhanced through this activity.

Knowledge Sharing Session

The senior students of class 11 become environment ambassadors when they took upon themselves the responsibility to induct their class 3 juniors on 12 February 2014.

Akansha and Simran Bajaj of Class XI-C inducted Class III wherein they gave a presentation regarding the various ways to keep the environment clean and green. The activity began with the narration of an interesting story which highlighted the importance of trees in our lives.This was followed by a presentation depicting pictures of cleanliness drives being held across the world. In the end, all the children jotted a few steps which they would like to take to keep their surroundings clean and healthy.

Overall it was a very enriching experience for the students which made them more sensitive towards their environment.

Geometry in Art : Activity 1

Assimilating the concrete of the mathematics with the abstract of art, student researched parallels in Geometric forms found in Indian Folk Motifs and Worli paintings.  They also learnt about popular US based artist Andy Warhol through a Power Point Presentation.  The consummate artists then set out to prove that the world is but a canvas to their learning and imagination as they prepared brightly hued tiles with their own geometric figures and painted them in the Warhol’s style.
